A pie por Laponia

Como ayer os contaba, José ha comenzado hoy a recorrer el sendero Nordkalottleden (o Nordkalotten, según el país), vamos a explicar un poco en qué consiste dicho itinerario.

Creado en fechas más o menos recientes el Nordkalottleden recorre cerca de 800 km por el norte de Escandinavia, convirtiéndose en uno de los senderos balizados más largos de Europa. Su recorrido se sitúa casi íntegramente por encima del Círculo Polar Ártico y atraviesa tres países: Noruega, Suecia y Finlandia. El itinerario está diseñado uniendo trayectos antiguos y con la creación de algunos nuevos.
En sentido Norte-Sur comienza en la Población de Kaotokeino (desde la cual José y Lonchas han salido esta mañana) y se dirige hacia Sultijelma (se pueden realizar variaciones y hay diversas opciones). Comienza recorriendo zonas de tundra para luego interceptar con la cordillera montañosa que divide en el norte a Noruega de Suecia y donde se encuentra la mayor altura del territorio sueco (Kebnekaise 2133 m.)
En mi opinión el sendero, y el viaje de José y Lonchas,  resultan muy interesantes por diferentes motivos. En primer lugar José lleva muchos meses matándose a currar y debe de tener unas ganas de echarse al monte con su perro que no puede con ellas. Ese es el motivo principal al que se le unen otros de menos envergadura, a saber:
El carácter transnacional del recorrido es una realidad que pretende ensalzar la idea del país lapón (Laponia). Se trata del lugar donde vive y pastorea la población sami y donde tradicionalmente ha realizado sus migraciones estacionales acompañando al pilar de su alimentación y cultura, los renos. Las cosas han cambiado pero continúa existiendo un substrato cultural único de gran interés. Por otro lado esta región del norte de Europa es realmente salvaje y representa una opción de contacto con la naturaleza en estado puro. La idea de realizar el viaje con un perro, además de bonita y de generarme envidia (de la no sana), creo que está muy bien y es muy auténtica. Espero que Lonchas vaya bien y nos pueda echar un cable en nuestra próxima expedición.
La infraestructura durante el itinerario fluctúa a la largo del mismo. En algunos lugares la presencia de refugios y cabañas ayuda al caminante aunque también se encuentran otras zonas sin lugares donde guarecerse.  Por esta época del año ya comenzarán algunas nevadas y el tiempo puede ser frío y muy lluvioso. Pienso en todos esos bosques con los colores del otoño y se me cae el alma a los pies mirando por la ventana de mi casa (y eso que tiene muy buenas vistas).
